It's Not Too Late to Send a Letter RE: Shelley Hearing

Image
I talked to Rose Kelley at Code Enforcement today and, although they would have liked to have all input for the hearing 24 hours in advance, you can still send a letter for the hearing.  The e-mail address is coderesearch@ocfl.net. Please include your address in your e-mail.  You don't have to speak to write a letter.  The hearing starts at 9 am tomorrow. The agenda is below and the Shelley's are the first four items on the agenda. If you wish to attend virtually or by phone or to speak, this link tells you how to do it.  Note: to see samples of letters submitted for the hearing click here.

June Update on Anuvia, Shelley's, and Monterey Mushrooms

Image
For Zellwood, Tangerine, Surrounding Neighborhoods June 13, 2020 Orange County sent an update on their investigation of the local odors.  Anuvia and Shelleys are dealing with the FDEP. There really isn't a lot of new information here on them. The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services inspected Monterey Mushrooms and didn't mention the odor in their report but did mention a sanitation issue. The FDEP issued a warning letter notifying them that they are conducting a formal investigation into the facility’s illegal use of “misters” or “evaporators” to increase the evaporation rate from holding ponds. It appears that they want to fight back on the odor reports.  Please, please continue to report odors. I know that it's a pain to report in two places but if there aren't complaints there isn't follow through.  We cannot stop now and need to stay on top of this issue.  Via Orange County today: Orange County Government is re...

Letter from Christine Moore to Northwest Orange County

Image
Hydrogen Sulfide  is one of the chemicals that we're breathing Many of you received this letter from Commissioner Christine Moore. Mine came yesterday. Based on the way the envelope was addressed, I believe that her office used the mailing address of the first property owner listed with the appraiser's office.  If you rent or lease you may not have received one. In that case, contact Ms. Moore via Facebook  Orange County District 2 Commissioner  or call her office at 407-836-7350 to get on her list as you should have a voice too.  Quoting  her, "...I still have concerns the remediation will be unsuccessful. ... [These businesses] must also be moved to action due to hearing first hand examples of how their odors are substantially altering lives."  We cannot let our work done so far slip away. We need to continue reporting the odors, both to Orange County and to the FDEP. We need to write letters. If you would like to have your letter(s...
