That Smell in Tangerine, Florida and Nearby Neighborhoods

March 12-13, 2020 The Daily Sludge Report Zero Days Without A Smell Report Check back for updates as reports come in Please Help Me Get Rid of This Smell so I Can Do Other Stuff  The #smellteam's travels  3/13/2020 10:30 PM Thursday, March 12 . Just took the dogs out and there is a VERY bad chemical smell right now. Lake Ola Drive. I smelled a faint bad odor at 7:30 and then again at 10;30 last night. But faint. For the record, I have the porch door open now and do not detect a smell.  Near Tangerine Post Office. 8:30 AM Friday, March 13. There was a slight whiff of odor outside of Anuvia's gate. We saw no smoke coming from the stack. We smelled nothing much at Shelley's Septic Tank's gates but when we pulled in a bit to turn around, there was a strong "farty" smell. We took a drive down Jones Avenue today. Before we headed to Jones, though, we stopped by the Mount Dora Waste Water Treatment Plant. This is the price that Stoneybrook pays to have Mount Dora water and sewer. It can be stink at times, but I can attest that it's well run and the management really tries to keep odors down. There were no odors there today. Next, we headed to Jones Avenue. Industrial Container Services was spewing steam and some smoke. I don't recall smelling anything. We checked out the Monterey Mushroom plant. There was no odor at the plant but we got a whiff of it later on while driving 441. I can only describe it as the organic stink of a foul fart. We ended up at Shelley's Septic Tanks and right after my partner in crime said, "It's not too bad, though" the foulest odor entered the car. ..

My throat is burning and this has to stop.  I'm sharing my blog post this morning to share how my life is going since I retired from teaching. I used to zoom out of Tangerine at 4:50 am to be at work at 5:30 to be ready for students at 7:20 am. I'd return home at 3:30 pm and life was good. I missed out on most of the smells from our local businesses and wasn't aware of the true extent of the stench. Somehow I'd managed to live here for 26 years without knowing that I'd moved into an industrial park.  Yes, we had the mushroom farm. Then it was Shelley's Septic Tanks, and now Anuvia with a touch of Mid-Florida Materials dump spiced up with a whiff of Industrial Container Services.  Now I get up and read...
