We Have Odor Reports Today

A Note From the Editor

I spoke with Daniel Vanegas of Christine Moore's office today. The takeaway for me was two-fold. First, our reporting has been great. He specifically mentioned videos of smoke spewing from Anuvia's stack. Second, the county is weaseling away from this due to the possibility of multiple sources of the smell.

So we need to redouble our efforts to report to Orange County by e-mail. We also need to follow up. I am happy to keep pestering them but I need to ask you to send e-mails to Orange County as well whenever you use FDEP's online reporting tool.

This is the only way we are going to get this problem fixed. It's a long slog, I know, but we are in this for the long haul and we can't give up. Please, please send e-mails when you smell the odors.

Be as specific as you can be as to time, wind direction, atmospheric pressure, and temperature. If you don't know all of that, simply include what you know. When they see a pattern of reporting, it matters.

5/2/2020 7:30 pm I'm taking my dog out to swim and Anuvia is gearing up. Complaint filed. I'll write an e-mail to Orange County when I come in.

5/2/2020 7:35 Got a whiff on Lake Ola Drive. Drove down Willow Street and didn't smell anything.

5/2/2020 7:45 pm 15 mins later we caught a whiff at Martin’s. On the lanai (which faces Lake Ola) having dinner, we got hit in the face...Let’s just say, that ended quickly. So not cool. ðŸ˜¡....Will do both myself.

Sent to all Orange County contacts

May 2, 2020

Greetings,

[Please see the] screenshot from the "That Smell in Tangerine and Surrounding Neighborhoods" group that I'll use as notification of the smell we experienced tonight. I'm one of four people I know of who noted it tonight. For every person who contacts me regarding the odor, there are probably 10 who just let it go by.

We should be able to enjoy our yards without smelling the smell from Jones Avenue in Zellwood which is 3 miles from here are the crow flies.

Please update me on the progress of the online odor reporting form for Orange County.

Best regards,

Redacted

Address your e-mails to these people We still need to send an e-mail or call Orange County to report to them. Orange County is working on having an online system to report and it was supposed to be up this week. The virus is slowing things down.
