Zero Days Without A Smell Report

Online Voter Registration Information

A Note From the Editor

We are getting traction. Please continue to write e-mails and make calls when you smell the odor. I sincerely appreciate everyone who is reaching out to help us get past this nightmare of stink. Your neighbors will thank you when this is over. I'll post a list below.

News

I just got off a 36-minute phone call with Maria Repass regarding documentation. FDEP came up with a form and Orange County is expecting to roll out an online odor reporting form in a week or so. Maria is going to get with Ashley Gardner to see if they can standardize the information requested as the forms are slightly different. Orange County IT is a little overwhelmed helping people work from home but I feel confident that we'll see something online and hopefully easy to use soon. The form will be for use countywide but we, yes we, are the reason that it's being developed. I am cautiously optimistic.

I called Maria in response to an e-mail I got today from Ashley Gardner of the FDEP. Here is the information sent out by Ashley Gardner in its entirety. It includes her letter, sample tally sheet, and correspondence to both Anuvia Plant Nutrients and Shelley's Septic Tanks. It's posted on a FB page as I don't think this blog can handle the size of the file.

Odor Reports

8:00 am on Sloewood near Sadler: There was a report from someone who isn't in the FB group and reached out to a local realtor to find out what the horrible smell was and that's how she found her way to me. She reported a 10 on a scale of 1-10.

8:39 am by Sadler and Ola Beach Drive: The odor is horrific and smells like fecal matter. [Ed. I'd give that a 10.]

8:39 am We concur with this report at that time on Sadler across from Greater Country Estates. 10 on a scale of 1-10

..........

10:30 am I smelled it also this morning on Lake Ola Drive and 441. 10 on a scale of 1-10
..........

11:15 am I just got two verified odor reports from the Lake Ola Drive area giving the smell a 2-3 on a scale of 1-10. When asked to describe the smell, I was told, "It's an Anuvia smell." These reporters are not on Facebook.

..........

8:43 pm OK, the smell is horrific again! The nearest streets are Sloewood and Sadler.

I must be immune... I don't smell it 🤷‍♀️

She [the original poster] lives on the other side of the lake and is closer to Jones Avenue. Unbelievably, sometimes [redacted] can smell it, and I'm just down the road and I can't. Anuvia is aware of this and personally confirmed this with me. It has to do with its stack and the wind. There were days I thought I was crazy until I realized it works like this. I still confirm the smell at my house even if it's just with my husband before I post.

It's not here, but I'll ask [name] when he's back from walking the dog. Sometimes you can smell it on Earlwood but not on Lake Ola Drive. Update: the smell found its way to us...

..........

9:08 pm Just got the Anuvia stank, now that I know what it is. It will chase off the teens partying in my neighbor's yard I hope.

9:20 pm We just got it too.

9:25 Now it’s gone. Where the wind goes.

9:26 That's because it came to my house.

9:28 PM April 7th Horrible Chemical Smell Lake Ola Drive. I'm assuming this must be Anuvia.

9:30 I just went out with my dogs, horrible smell, definitely Anuvia, I am in a coughing fit because of this. My lungs cannot handle Anuvia poison! At least a 4 or 5 and the coughing has been going on for 10 minutes. I can't even walk down my driveway.

A Very Stinky Night

So sad. Such a beautiful night for a walk before curfew.

Anuvia needs to issue masks for residents in their radius of stink.

No, Anuvia needs to stop the stink NOW!

It rolled on down to the street to us.

It came down to my house but it took a bit.

Just stepped on the porch to view the pink full moon. The smell is a 6. It's hard to distinguish horse 💩 from human 💩.  It smells to me like what I think is the mushroom farm.

It is terrible!

This was sent out to everyone on the list at the bottom of the page.

Hello once again,

First of all, I owe a big thank you to everyone who is working to help us return our neighborhoods to the enchanted places they once were. We used to have fresh air and were able to enjoy the cool spring breezes. We can't wait for those days to return.

Meanwhile, back to reality, it was another stinky day in the neighborhood. While the rest of Florida was able to step out of the house to enjoy the beautiful full moon tonight, the stink came drifting over our neighborhoods. Here is a short clip I took outside of my house. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76-5wmFsSEw

While the pandemic, with its children being schooled at home while their parents are trying to work in the same place,  has people distracted and stressed out, group members still had time to share their complaints with our Facebook group. I do my best to have the blog posts reflect our reality without compromising the privacy of the group members so the identities of people making comments are obscured.

Today's blog post will give you an idea of how the smell affects us. We're trapped here self-isolating and many of us are being deprived of even being able to stroll around the neighborhood before we're under curfew. If you find any errors, please forgive me and know that I'll correct them if (and when) I find them. I've been online and on the phone most of the day, it's near midnight, and I'm tired. https://tangerinestinks.blogspot.com/2020/04/odor-report-for-472020.html

I want to give Maria Repass and Ashley Gardner a special shoutout for keeping me (and the group in turn) updated. Again, thank you for your efforts.

Best regards,

Kitty Breed
