Subject: Shelley's/Anuvia Update
Good afternoon,
I know you all experienced a difficult weekend in regards to the odors and I apologize I was not able to get back to you yesterday. In response to the emails and calls from residents, the Department sent an inspector to the area yesterday morning and he did confirm odors from Anuvia near Holly Estates, and both Shelley’s and Anuvia on Willow Street. We were not able to confirm odors near Lake Ola.
Given this information, the Department is in the process of updating the consent order for both parties to reflect their continued non-compliance. While I know this does not erase your experience this weekend, I want to assure you the Department is taking this matter seriously and is doing everything within our regulatory authority to bring both facilities into compliance as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
In the meantime, please continue to report any concerns.
Sincerely,
Ashley Gardner

Response2: Ashely, Thanks for your response. All we can do is to continue to share when we are experiencing the odors and drive around to see if we can determine who the culprit is. Hopefully, they will get tired of being exposed and make the necessary changes to solve the problem.
..........
Good morning Ashley,
I appreciated your update yesterday and I am requesting more detailed and more frequent updates regarding Anuvia and Shelleys. I've included a map to show you the location of my house in relation to Anuvia (and Shelleys which is next door.) I know that the DEP inspectors have a hard time catching the odor on Lake Ola Drive, but based on the number of complaints that I've heard (and my personal experience,) there is no doubt that Lake Ola Drive gets it too.
Lately, I find myself checking the weather reports and open my sliding glass door with trepidation. I question how the problems with Anuvia can be solved with the typical weather patterns in this area.
The local odors are impacting all of our lives. Anuvia no longer returns calls or e-mails. I have talked to Barbara Shelley and she refuses to even acknowledge that odors leave their boundaries.
For that reason, I'm requesting that we get regular updates on the progress being made. As the admin of the FB group, I've been subjected to pointed questions that I'm unable to answer. Something as simple as knowing that a meeting via Zoom was held shows progress. Anything regarding the smell gives me something to share and gives our residents hope that their concerns are really being heard.
We are anticipating the online odor reporting form that Orange County is rolling out soon. I hope that this smelly time soon becomes a distant memory.
Best regards,
