A Drive Down Jones Avenue 3/13/2020

We took a drive down Jones Avenue today. Before we headed to Jones, though, we stopped by the Mount Dora Waste Water Treatment Plant. This is the price that Stoneybrook pays to have Mount Dora water and sewer. It can be stink at times, but I can attest that it's well run and the management really tries to keep odors down. There were no odors there today.


Next, we headed to Jones Avenue.



Industrial Container Services was spewing steam and some smoke. I don't recall smelling anything.


We checked out the Monterey Mushroom plant. There was no odor at the plant but we got a whiff of it later on while driving 441. I can only describe it as the organic stink of a foul fart.




We ended up at Shelley's Septic Tanks and right after my partner in crime said, "It's not too bad, though" the foulest odor entered the car.

Zellwood Residents: Do We Need to Pursue This?

On February 5, 2021, FDEP issued a Notice of Intent to Issue a wastewater permit authorizing Shelley’s to continue to operate their Biosolids Treatment Facility (BTF). The public and other stakeholders have the opportunity to provide input by petitioning FDEP for an administrative hearing within 14 days of the Notice. Rules for petitioning can be found online. A time extension to file a petition may also be requested. Either request should be made directly through the Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of General Counsel. The mailing address is 3900 Commonwealth Blvd., Mail Station 35, Tallahassee, FL 32399-3000, or via electronic correspondence at Agency_Clerk@dep.state.fl.us followed by a mailed copy of the petition.

The Saga of Drainage into Lake Ola
